In Love with Netflix

Greetings Everyone,

I just signed up with Netflix and I have been having fun renting all kinds of old movies that you normally can't find in the stores.

Lately I have been lost in a sea of period films.

I just recently revisited Anne of the Thousand Days. The film centers on Henry VIII, his divorce from Queen Katherine of Aragon, and the love affair with Anne Boleyn that fueled the whole thing. It stars Richard Burton as Henry and there are plenty of other names that you will remember.

It is very old Hollywood, and a lot of fun to watch. Just as a side note, if you do wind up renting it -- pay extra attention to the blackwork used on the costumes -- it is just beautiful. (The film won an Oscar for best costumes.)

I've also just discovered A Man For All Seasons. This is a film that is set in the same time period, but focuses on Sir Thomas More.

It won the Oscar for Best Picture in 1966. The movie stars Paul Scofield as Thomas and features a very young John Hurt as Richard Rich (one of the villians of the story).

Again it is very old Hollywood, but it is done well. I thought that it moved rather slowly, but being the history junkie that I am, I enjoyed it.

Anyway, if anyone has any ideas for me on films that I should watch, I would love to see if I can get my hands on them. Maybe we will have a popcorn and movie night at my place for fun!

Yours in Service,

Giulianna

March Esperance Crown Event

Greetings Everyone,

I know that March is a busy month for everyone, but I wanted to extend an invitation to all of you to attend Esperance's Crown Event on Saturday, March 8.

The event will be held at Canyon RV Park (aka Featherly Regional Park) in Anaheim. Directions can be found at our Kingdom web site at
http://www.kingdomofesperance.com/

Opening court is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. We are planing to hold tournaments in Arts, Archery and all forms of Combat.

Just an FYI ... I was hoping that a few steel combatants from Terre Neuve could attend the event. We will have a combatant traveling down from Solvang and he is just itching to try his hand at some of the best steel combatants in the area. There are many in Esperance that are ready for him -- but I thought that you guys might want to show off for him too. :D

If you have any questions about anything concerning the event, just send me an e-mail at joleym@yahoo.com.

Yours in Service,
